Targeting a potential audience of over 500 million Spanish-speaking viewers, Brazilian TV network Globo is partnering with Mediaset España, Mexico’s TV Azteca and Argentinean public broadcaster TVP for its first international series, Supermax.

Mediaset España has been the last to join the project as co-producer and will be responsible for broadcasting the series to Spanish audiences on its free-to-air (FTA) network Cuatro. Globo has also partnered with Oficina Burman, owned by the filmmaker Daniel Burman.

“We have two strategic goals with this project. The first is to reach over 500 million Spanish-speaking viewers with a product specifically tailored to this audience. The second is to expand our relationship with key players in this market in addition to promoting creative networking among the talent pool,” pointed out Raphael Corrêa Netto, Globo’s executive director of international business.

"Through this agreement we will have the opportunity to take a step forward in our presence in Latin America with Globo, one of the key players in this territory,” added Manuel Villanueva, content general director, Mediaset.

Supermax is based on the original Brazilian version of the series. The Spanish-language cast features names including Argentinians Cecilia Roth, Antonio Birabent, Alexa Moyano and Laura Novoa; Spanish actor Santiago Segura, Cuba’s Rubén Cortada, Uruguay’s César Troncoso, Mexico’s Alejandro Camacho and Brazil’s Laura Neiva and Felipe Hintze.

“At TV Azteca we have set a goal: to be one of the best Latin American producers with high quality content, which turn into more viewers for each of our screens. That is why today, with the key content specialists, such as Globo, we are on the right path,” concluded Rodrigo Fernandez Capdevielle, general director, TV Azteca.
